An ideal candidate for Juvéderm® should be in good overall health, understand the injectable treatment process, and have realistic expectations for their outcomes. Juvéderm® is safe for both men and women of any skin type or ethnicity. However, individuals with a known allergy to the bacterial proteins found in Juvéderm® may not be suitable candidates for treatment.

The Juvéderm® procedure

Each Juvéderm® session is conducted in one of our comfortable treatment rooms at the Boston Center for Plastic Surgery and typically lasts less than half an hour. While the injections are generally not painful, our doctors can add a local or topical anesthetic upon request for additional comfort. Once you are comfortable and the target area is identified, Juvéderm® is administered under the skin using a very small needle. 

What to expect after your Juvéderm® treatment?

Since no downtime is required, patients can return to their regular routine immediately. Mild redness, swelling, and tenderness may be common, but these symptoms typically resolve within the first 24 to 48 hours.
