Every patient wants to look better with as little downtime as possible. We are living in an era in which we are constantly on the go so our free time is extremely precious. Furthermore, most people don’t want to look as if they have had anything done. I am always sensitive to these facts. Surgical facial rejuvenation procedures are often the gold standard, but they do require more downtime. This helps explain why there has been such an explosion in non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures over the last decade. However, many require multiple treatments. With Profound, you only need one session.

The fact that the Profound procedure is non-surgical is one of the things that makes it so attractive to patients. The fact that it is such an effective procedure is one of the things that makes it so attractive to myself as well as my colleague Dr. Doherty.

Profound Delivers Dramatic Results

Profound delivers consistent results because it works on both the surface of your skin as well as your underlying tissues. The Profound device consists of a hand piece that contains a cartridge of disposable micro-needles. As I pass the hand piece over your treatment area, these small needles penetrate the surface of your skin. The radiofrequency (RF) energy then passes through the needles into the deeper layers of your dermis. The gentle heat of the RF energy, along with the micro-injuries to the surface of the skin, promote your body’s healing response which is to produce more collagen and elastin. The ideal candidate for Profound is any man or woman in good overall health with a mild to moderate degree of laxity or looseness in the skin. If you have a significant amount of sagging skin in your neck and/or jawline, you are going to be a better candidate for a facelift. During your initial consultation, I will be very honest about what I think Profound can achieve for your unique anatomy, needs and lifestyle. This is an effective procedure. But it will never achieve the kind of lift that I can get by excising loose skin.

Fast Recovery with Profound

Although there is some downtime associated with your Profound procedure, it is typically no more than 3-5 days. You can expect some redness and swelling. This is just your body “healing” from the procedure, producing more of that rejuvenating collagen and elastin. Patients are usually back to their normal routine, with no one else being any the wiser, after day 5. This is a small price to pay for something that can radically improve the appearance of the skin and tissues on your face and neck.

Long Lasting Results

One of the best things about the Profound procedure, in my opinion, is that your results will continue to improve over time. However, it will require some patience on your part. The initial improvements in your skin tone and texture will start to become apparent about two weeks after your procedure.  The appearance of your skin will then continue to improve over the next 6-9 months as your body ramps up its production of collagen and elastin. The former provides structure or “lift” to your skin, while the latter is what allows it to retract back into place after your smile, laugh or scowl.
